Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition allows designers to use familiar InDesign skills to create, develop, and deliver iPad apps like brochures, personal portfolios, yearbooks and annual reports - with engaging interactive elements such as slideshows and image sequences -without writing code! Single Edition is now included as part of an Adobe Creative Cloud membership, and Creative Cloud members can submit an unlimited number of iPad apps to the Apple App Store.
Further, the Single Edition workflow has been streamlined, allowing Single Edition customers to move directly from Folio Builder in InDesign directly to the DPS App Builder (formerly known as Viewer Builder), making the end-to-end workflow much simpler for design customers. There are other UI improvements as well both in the Folio Builder panel and DPS App Builder.
There are many resources available, including:
Points to note:
- You will need to register as an Apple Developer and pay the $99 annual fee.
- DPS App Builder is a Mac-only application. Also, Apple requires that you use a Mac to submit your app to the Apple App Store.
- You will need to install the Digital Publishing Suite Desktop Tools update in InDesign.
- DPS, Single Edition will continue to be available as a standalone product on Adobe.com for $395 / app, and is compatible with CS5, CS5.5 and CS6. The improved workflow and new features will be applicable to standalone customers as well, but only Creative Cloud members will be able to submit unlimited apps at no additional cost.
